Dr. Robin Williams is a Senior Research Officer with the National Research Council's Institute for Microstructural Sciences in Ottawa. He is Group Leader of the Institute's Epitaxial and Multilayer Materials group, which focuses on the growth of III-V semiconductor materials and dielectric multilayers. Dr. Williams' own research focus is on the optoelectronic properties of semiconductor nanostructures such as self-assembled quantum dots. Using directed self-assembly techniques Dr. Williams' group has developed techniques to control the nucleation site of individual nanostructures, so that control structures such as photonic microcavities and electrostatic gates can be built around them for Quantum Information applications. Dr. Williams is an adjunct Professor at the Universities of Toronto and Ottawa.
