Ashwin Nayak began his studies in theoretical computer science with a B.Tech. at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (1995). He developed an interest in quantum computation during his PhD studies at University of California, Berkeley. After his PhD in computer science from UC Berkeley (1999), Ashwin held positions at DIMACS Center (Rutgers University), AT&T Labs-Research, California Institute of Technology, and Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Berkeley.
Ashwin is an associate professor in Department of Combinatorics and Optimization and Institute for Quantum Computing at University of Waterloo, an associate member of Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Waterloo, and a scholar of Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.
