 World première in Vienna: Quantum Cryptography Secures Communication in a Commercial NetworkOctober 8, 2008QuantumWorks members are participating in the first live demonstration of a working quantum key distribution (QKD) network which is taking place in Vienna today! The demonstration is held within in the framework of the SECOQC international conference which will run until October 10th, 2008. QuantumWorks member Dr. Norbert Lütkenhaus is a key researcher in the SECOQC project, he will address the security of practical QKD systems. Fellow QuantumWorks member Dr. Hoi-Kwong Lo will present an invited talk discussing the challenges of the deployment of QKD systems. Chris Erven will give a contributed talk on entanglement based QKD with two free space optical links. Erven is a student of QuantumWorks member Dr. Gregor Weihs. The work of Normand Beaudry, Hauke Häseler and Geir Ove Myhr will be presented at the conference, all are students under the supervision of Dr. Nobert Lütkenhaus.
